I remember the first time I got serious about watches. It was back in the early 2000's when I found a store that "didn't belong" in a shopping mall in the Chicago suburbs. The reason I say it "didn't belong" is because this store was unlike anything I had ever seen before. When I walked in, I felt a complete sensory overload, yet everything seemed to be in its place.

There were antique lamps, sculptures, paintings, jewelry, and vintage signs everywhere. But what I remember most, is a toy Robbie the Robot from the original Lost In Space TV show grabbing a Bart Simpson toy by the neck. Every day, multiple people would come into the store and ask to buy the Robbie and Bart combo, but it was not for sale.

After I quickly scanned the store, I walked up to a showcase that was full of vintage watches. Longines, Omega, Breitling, Heuer, Cartier, Rolex and more. I was mesmerized.

For the longest time, my favorite brand has been Omega, and John, the owner of the store, had a lot of them in that showcase. After asking to see numerous watches in the case, I finally settled on one, and over time, I was able to buy many vintage Omega's as well as other watches he had in that showcase, which ignited my passion for collecting luxury timepieces.
